The BioImmersion program, funded by a grant from the NIH (National Institutes of Health), teaches Bioengineering and Architecture and Design students how to identify problems and needs for new medical devices. Student participants will learn how to apply formal methods of problem identification, analysis and design by observing medical and surgical procedures in the operating room. Additionally, participants will take part in interviewing physicians and healthcare personnel and participating in lectures and laboratory activities. This 10 week summer program starts May 16, 2016, and offers financial stipends to all participants.
